1 Timothy 3:1-7 ESV

The saying is trustworthy: If anyone aspires to the office of overseer, he desires a noble task. Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God's church?

Ephesians 4:11-16 ESV

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, ...

Mark currently serves as an Elder at Renewal Church. He came to faith in Jesus Christ as a young man while growing up in a Baptist church in Livonia, MI. He was raised in a multi-cultural Christian household, the grandson of a Ukrainian missionary and church planter who also pastored a church in Detroit. One of Mark’s passions is teaching. He really enjoys helping youth grasp biblical truths for the first time; and then learn how to apply these truths to their own lives.
Mark works as an engineer in the field of automotive construction. He has degrees from Western Michigan University, and Wayne State University. Mark met his beautiful wife Norma in 1994 while working in Mexico. They live in Grosse Pointe with their 2 daughters Debra and Sarah. In his spare time, Mark can be found rowing on the Detroit River, or running by Lake St Clair.

Marcas Bradley serves as the Worship Arts Band Director and as an Elder at Renewal Church. Marcas is married to his wonderful wife, Kim, and has enjoyed this blessing for almost 20 years. After obtaining his Bachelors Degree from Bowling Green State University in Psychology, he obtained his Masters Degree and Education Specialist Certification from Wayne State University. He later obtained a Clinical Supervision Specialist Certificate and School Counselor License and is also a Licensed Professional Counselor.
Marcas’ primary ministry is his family. Being a husband, father, and son to those in his household is his first calling. Marcas has served in various churches in their music and children’s ministry (greatly enjoying Grace Church Kidstuff), and has 2 Gospel Music CD’s and written several songs on various independent artists’ music projects.
Marcas has 2 sons who God has blessed him with. His hope is to be an example to them, showing them the fruit of the Spirit of God through patience and kindness. Marcas’ driving thought is, “Time + Effort = Caring”. He feels that it is a privilege to be a part of a church that so obviously cares about others in such an intentional manner; a church that focuses on discipling others and assisting in the healing of peoples’ hearts through the Word of God.

Desmond came to a saving knowledge of Christ at the age of nine years old at the Fountain of Truth Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit Michigan. After a few years of inconsistent church attendance he became a consistent member of Baptist Hill Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Junior Deacon for several years.

Desmond went on to join the US Army at 19 years old and served for three years where he received an Honorable Discharge. During his military service he became a member of Eternal Life Church of the Living God International in Columbus Georgia. At Eternal Life, Desmond served as an Exhorter for a couple of years. After staying in Columbus Desmond decided to come back to Detroit where he would join Strictly Biblical Bible Teaching Ministries Church where he served as a choir member, choir section leader, and trained through the Evangelical Training Association. He served at SBBTM for 10 years.

Desmond later was led to join Renewal Church where he serves in several ministries Worship Arts, Missional Pathway, Prayer Team, and Maintenance. Desmond has seen the negative impact of not using your God-given talents and gifts and hopes to help others fulfill their full potential and to experience a greater understanding of God’s love.
